The federally funded shoreline protection project is adding/reconstructing dunes, jetties, and groins across 7 miles of the south shore of Long Island. Long Beach is scheduled for stone placement in March and work beginning in June, which could interfere with peak summer season and potentially close down beaches. City and state officials sent a letter requesting that Army Corps crews confine work to spring or fall. The project is set to be completed by September 2018.
