Drink of the Summer: Frosé

If you haven’t had a chance to try the drink that everyone’s been talking about, the drink that’s been taking the weekend brunch scene by storm, head down to Brixx and Barley for a refreshing glass of Frosé – you read that correct and trust us, you won’t be disappointed. The frozen cocktail is made with Whispering Angel Rosé and is as delicious as it is refreshing. Brixx recently added it to their menu and we’re in love. Cheers Long Beach!

Reminder: LB Kids Triathlon (6/17)

Long Beach will hold its first Kids Triathlon on Saturday, June 13, 2015 for children ages 4-13.  Get out the swim suits, sneakers and bicycles, tricycles or big wheels! The race will consist of three events – a pool swim, bike ride and run. Children of all skill levels can participate in the triathlon where “every finisher is a winner.”

The event features age-appropriate distances for swimming, biking and running; for ages 4 – 7, 25 yd swim (1 pool length), 475 ft bike ride, 500 ft run For ages 8 – 10, 75 yd swim (3 pool lengths), ½ mi bike ride, 750 ft run For ages 11- 13, 125 yd swim (5 pool lengths), 1 mi bike, 1000 ft run.

All participants will receive a finisher’s medal, post race snacks and a chance to win raffle prizes. The race entry fee for each individual is $25. Click here to download an application.

Surfer’s Way invites you to join them on Thursday, June 15th at Jetty Bar & Grill for their second annual fundraiser. Come down for food, drinks, and dancing from 6-9pm to help make this year’s Surf Outings bigger and better than ever. You will also have a chance to win some great prizes like surfboards and surf camp comps!

Surfer’s Way is a non-profit organization designed to offer children with special needs the opportunity to experience the exhilaration and liberation of surfing. We offer free surf outings during the summer at Riverside Beach in Long Beach, NY.

LB Boardwalk Getting Sunscreen Dispensers

Newsday: Long Beach boardwalk will get sunscreen dispensers

“Long Beach City Council members have approved adding sunscreen dispensers on the boardwalk. City officials are adding the sunscreen dispensers using a three-year $90,000 grant from NYU Winthrop Hospital. Winthrop will pay the city $30,000 for the first two years to cover the cost of the sunscreen dispensers and $15,000 for the third year. Long Beach will also receive $5,000 each year for hosting the sunscreen dispensers. The resolution was approved during last week’s City Council meeting.”

Long Beach Summer Concert Series

LB Summer Concert Series 2017

Long Beach’s free summer concert series kicks off on Sunday July 3rd and runs through September 1st.

The popular series is free to residents and visitors and showcases a variety of musical entertainment.  This year’s schedule includes everything from classic rock to big band and will include iconic favorites such as Alive n’ Kickin and Risky Business, Tribute Bands including Cold Spring Harbor and Bon Journey, local bands like T’Bazco Road and Killer Joe, and a Karaoke Night on Friday, August 18th! The series will also feature many new acts.

The concerts are presented four nights a week at rotating beaches:  National Boulevard Beach on Mondays and Tuesdays; New York Avenue Beach on Wednesdays and Neptune Boulevard Beach on Thursdays. Larger concerts or special events concerts may take place on Long Beach Boulevard or Riverside Blvd. Make sure to mark your calendar for the Fireworks Extravaganza show on Friday, July 7th with music by classic party band New York Minute!
